To complete the scenario of dispensing with expatriates, many expatriates of different nationalities who work in different jobs from ministries and agencies have been laid off.
Informed sources in the Ministry of Works revealed that the Minister of Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Dr. Rana Al-Faris is about to sign a statement of terminating the services of all non-Kuwaiti employees of the ministry, to include 400 employees in a number of different sectors of the ministry, after the services of 150 employees had already been terminated in the first batch.
The sources indicated that the names included in the list were their owners working in administrative and legal positions, in addition to some names whose owners worked in technical professions, noting that Minister Al-Faris intended to terminate the services of all expatriate employees to replace the national elements.
She stated that it was planned to end the services of non-Kuwaiti employees who number in the Ministry of Works and the Public Authority for Roads up to 550 employees in batches, so that the last batch would be completed before the end of the current year, but the Minister decided to terminate the services of all expatriate employees at once.
The sources indicated that the percentage of all non-Kuwaiti employees in the Ministry of Works and the Public Roads Authority does not exceed 5 percent of the total employees of the ministry, pointing out that Al-Fares seeks to train all its affiliates, to replace the national elements to bear responsibility in the coming years.
