The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Prosecution at the Public Prosecution of the State has ordered the imprisonment of eight people who have organized weddings in different places in the country in the presence of a large number of persons other than first-degree relatives, without taking into account physical distances or wearing masks, in violation of the measures and precautionary measures taken to combat the disease "Covid" -19 ".


The prosecution indicated that within the framework of the efforts made by the concerned authorities in the country to combat the "Corona" pandemic, limit the spread of the disease, and follow up on community members' commitment to the instructions decided by the competent authorities, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police referred two incidents and the General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police one incident, for a total of Eight people have been referred to the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Prosecution Office for organizing weddings without any compliance with the preventive standards and approved procedures, and for refraining from implementing the instructions issued by the concerned authorities.

The prosecution clarified that legal measures have been taken against them by imprisoning them pending investigation, and called on the public to adhere to the precautionary measures and measures, laws, regulations and decisions issued by government agencies so that they are not exposed to legal accountability.

She emphasized that refraining from implementing the instructions issued by the competent authorities is a crime according to Federal Decree-Law No. 2 of 2011 and its amendments regarding the establishment of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, in which the penalty amounts to imprisonment not exceeding 6 months and a fine of not less than 100 thousand dirhams Or one of these two penalties.

The Public Prosecution stressed that it will take all legal measures against anyone who does not adhere to the measures and instructions related to limiting the spread of "Covid-19" disease, in order to protect the health and safety of members of the UAE community, and support government efforts in the country to contain the repercussions of this pandemic on various aspects of healthy life.
