The UAE decided in March to temporarily suspend the issuance of visas to curb the spread of Covid-19 as the UAE authorities announced the resumption of issuance of entry permits excluding work permits, starting from 24 September.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said this morning, Thursday, that resuming the issuance of visas comes within the framework of easing restrictions and strengthening the state's efforts towards supporting the country's economic recovery plans.

In conjunction with enabling the work system based on achieving a balance between the implementation of precautionary measures for Covid-19 on the one hand and the return of tourists and the resumption of economic activities and various developmental aspects on the other hand, the government media agency WAM, was reported.

The authority pointed out that the decision comes in response to the current data represented in the package of precautionary measures and travel mechanisms taken by the air transport sector, in addition to applying various practices aimed at combating the Coronavirus pandemic.

The FAIC on March 17th suspended all visas for all foreigners, except for holders of diplomatic passports, as a precaution to prevent and contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
