The authorities announced that people who overstayed their UAE visas now have until the end of the year to leave the country without having to pay fines. ...
The short-term pardon, which was introduced on May 14, was supposed to expire today, November 17.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said that illegal residents, whose visas expired before March 1, will be exempt from their fines if they manage to leave the UAE at or before the end of December.
Major General Saeed Rakan Al-Rashidi, Director General of the Authority for Foreigners and Ports Affairs, said that all penalties and restrictions related to Emirates ID cards and work permits will also be lifted.
Major General Al-Rashidi thanked the leadership for this generous gesture, and said that the extension comes in line with a directive to give visa violators another opportunity to legalize their status.
