A 31-year-old Asian is facing trial before a criminal court on charges of forging an Emirati ID card.
According to police records, the defendant - identified as KM - presented an Emirati ID card to a security guard two weeks ago at the gate of an office located at a construction site in the Mankhool area.
The guard reported that six people approached him who wanted to enter the office.
After checking all of their IDs, five of them were found to have original cards; However, the sixth presented a card with different colors than the one on the national record.
The guard scanned the ID card on his computer, using the government system provided to him, and discovered that the card was invalid.
He called the police and reported the incident, and a team of detectives arrived and arrested the accused.
Investigations revealed that the ID was indeed forged.
Upon confronting him, the man admitted to forging a forged ID card in order to stay in the country and find work, and the police referred him to the Public Prosecution Office, which took his case to the Criminal Court for trial.
