In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and under the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council .. The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the National Pride Office, launched an initiative. Hayyakum, which is a scholarship program in Emirati schools offered to children of workers in the first line of defense in the health sector throughout the country.
Students receive full scholarships to study in public schools, starting from the current academic year 2020-2021 until they finish high school, in appreciation of the efforts and sacrifices of their parents and their role in maintaining the health and safety of society.
The number of beneficiaries has now reached 1850 students nationwide, and the deadline for submitting applications for this academic year is scheduled to expire at the end of this September.
The grants will be available starting from the current academic year for children of front-line champions working in the health sector and cover the costs of education, laptops and school transportation expenses from now until completion of high school.
This initiative comes within the framework of fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Office of Pride of the Nation, while both sides are looking to enhance future cooperation by launching and implementing specific initiatives and programs in cooperation with various educational bodies in the country.
The "Hayyakum" initiative, which targets the families of health care workers, contributes to achieving family and psychological stability, helping families bear the financial burdens due to the "Covid-19 pandemic", and ensuring education for their children in public schools until the completion of secondary school, which is positively reflected on the line workers.
