Emirates Airlines unveiled multifaceted measures to take care of employees and customers in every step of the travel journey, and redefine safety and hygiene standards on the plane and on the ground.
The new measures came into effect today, with regular passenger flights resuming regularly to nine destinations.
“Emirates Airlines carries out a comprehensive set of procedures at every step of the traveler’s journey, in order to promote the cleansing of all points of contact, and ensure the health and safety of our customers and our employees.
The risk of infection on the plane is also very low, but we spared no effort to review and redesign each step, from check-in to descent. Every measure that is implemented is an additional risk reduction, completely taken into account, our goal is to make aviation as safe as possible. ”Adel Al-Reda, Chief Operating Officer, Emirates Airlines.
Emirates has introduced free hygiene kits that are given to every passenger upon check-in at Dubai International Airport and on flights to Dubai. These kits include masks, gloves, antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. Toiletries complete a large number of additional measures that have already been introduced to maintain customer safety.
Gloves and masks are mandatory for all customers and employees at Dubai Airport, while only masks are imposed on Emirates flights. Upon arrival at the airport, thermal scanners in different regions monitor the temperatures of all passengers and staff. Long-distance indicators are placed on the ground and in waiting areas to help travelers maintain the necessary distance in the areas of check-in, immigration, boarding and transport.
The airport team also installed protective barriers in each check-in and immigration counter to provide additional safety reassurance to passengers and staff during the over-the-counter interaction.
Customers traveling through Dubai International Airport and moving to another flight will be subjected to thermal examination upon disembarkation. The airport transportation offices were also installed with protective barriers as a precaution. Airport personnel, who wear personal protective equipment (PPE), will guide customers from a safe distance for additional assistance. Customers will be provided with an additional toiletry kit at the gate before boarding their connecting flight.
Boarding passes and passengers aboard the class, from the last row to the first, were serialized in small numbers.
The waiting area has also been modified to ensure that all customers consider the social distance. Emirates agents, who wear personal protective equipment (PPE), will facilitate the ride sequence. The boarding gates are deeply cleaned and sterilized after boarding each flight.
All crew on board will be fully equipped in personal protective equipment. To maintain the highest safety and hygiene standards, Emirates has added a cabin service assistant (CSA) to the supplementing crew on flights longer than 1.5 hours. The Canadian Space Agency will ensure toilets are cleaned frequently every 45 minutes. Each toilet is equipped with sterile soap and hand washing instructions.
To reduce the risk of touch injury, magazines and printed reading materials will not be available during this time. In premium seasons, menus and wine menus will be provided for individual use by passengers. Comfortable items like mattresses, pillows, blankets, headphones and toys will be closed healthily. Emirates will resume service with hot meals, using the high-quality cutlery and crockery sterilized before each use.
Luggage must be checked in, and customers can bring only essential items such as laptop, handbag, bag, or baby bag on board. Customers are reminded to bring pens to fill in the health clearance forms required for some destinations.
Emirates’s modern aircraft cabins are equipped with advanced HEPA air filters that remove 99.97% of viruses and remove dust, allergens and germs from the cabin air for a healthier and safer environment on the plane. After its flight and landing in Dubai, each aircraft will undergo improved cleaning and disinfection operations to ensure proper safety and sanitation.
