UAE residents who have been outside the country for more than six months can now return by March 31, 2021.

This is according to the Dubai economy carrier flydubai website which was updated on January 4.

All residents need a valid residence visa and approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai.

In a message to passengers, the site stated: "If you hold a residence visa in the United Arab Emirates and stay outside the country for more than 180 days, you will be permitted to enter the UAE until March 31, 2021."

Meanwhile, Air India Express (AIE), the budget airline of the Indian national carrier, also posted on its Twitter account: "Travelers, who have stayed outside Dubai for more than 180 days, can return within 31 March 2021."

She added, "They must have a valid residence visa and approval from the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs."

This announcement is expected to bring travelers a significant respite to the many residents of the United Arab Emirates who have been stuck in their countries of origin for several months.
