Metro Dubai 2020

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened Road 2020, which extends for a distance of 15 km to the RED Metro, on Wednesday.

The 2020 road project, which connects seven stations, will be extended to the public in September this year, from Jebel Ali Station to Expo 2020 Station.

The track extends 15 km (elevated track 11.8 km and underground track 3.2 km) and connects seven stations (intersection station with the red line, one distinct station at the Expo 2020 site, three high stations and two underground stations).

The project provides safe and smooth transportation for Expo visitors and residents of Dubai communities. It is also seen as a vital future connection between many Dubai communities and Al Maktoum International Airport.

The new project works as a symbol of sustainability, progress and innovation for present and future generations.

With the opening of the 2020 line, the total length of the Dubai metro line and the green line will increase to 90 km. Meanwhile, the total length of Dubai's rail networks will reach 101 km (90 km for the metro and 11 km for the tram).

Route 2020 has a capacity of 46,000 riders per hour in both directions (23,000 riders per hour per way). RTA studies predict that the number of riders using the 2020 road will reach 125,000 passengers per day in 2021, and 275,000 passengers per day by 2030.

The 2020 track has seven stations including the Red Line Interchange Station, one Icon Station at Expo Site, three elevated stations and two underground stations.
