A new design has been approved for the Emirati passports and the Emirates ID, it was announced on Sunday. New Generation Design features additional security features.
Existing passports and Emirates ID cards will be replaced in stages.
This came at a time when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a meeting of the UAE Cabinet, on Sunday, ahead of the Emirati Commemoration Day and the National Day.
Sheikh Mohammed went on Twitter to announce some of the key decisions taken by the Cabinet :
> A Cyber Security Council will be established. The council will formulate policies and regulations to improve cybersecurity in all sectors.
> Adopting a general policy to protect the environment. This will help boost air quality, agricultural production and waste management.
> Approval of a national media team. It will include influencers in the media sector in the United Arab Emirates. It will work on policies to improve the country's media.
> Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, has been appointed as the Special Representative of the UAE to combat climate change. He will represent the UAE in all global events related to climate change.
