Covaxin is developed in partnership with Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech India.

The Indian Board of Medical Research said it was possible to launch the original Corona vaccine Covaxin by August 15, and requested clinical trials on the fast track.

Covaxin is developed in partnership with Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech India) which has recently gestured clinical trials for phases I and II so far.

The ICMR statement stated:

 "BBIL is working quickly to achieve the goal, however, the end result will depend on the cooperation of all clinical trial sites involved in this project. This is the first local vaccine to be developed by India and it is one of the high priority projects that are monitored at the highest level in the government ".

Covaxin is a derivative of the coV-2 SARS strain isolated by the National Institute of Viruses.

Dr. Bhargava wrote to medical institutions that had been selected for vaccine trials to ensure that all test phases were put on the fast track with the goal of launching the Covid-19 vaccine by August 15.
