Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Maryam Al-Aqil announced the allocation of an office to the Public Authority for Manpower in the isolated areas as a result of the Corona Virus Pandemic (Covid-19) pandemic to receive labor complaints in the event of any dispute with employers or failure to implement labor rights.
On Saturday, Minister Al-Aqeel said:
«Coordination with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh was made to allocate an office for the workforce and another affiliated with the General Administration of Investigations in the shelters in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Al-Farawaniyah regions.
She stressed the manpower authority's keenness to listen to complaints of migrant workers and deal with them according to the law to ensure that they get their rights, noting that many complaints led to the detection of companies suspected of trafficking in human beings and residencies, and legal measures were taken against them.
She explained that (the workforce) has liquidated many of the financial guarantees that are reserved with the Authority and spent the overdue salaries of workers to ensure that they obtain their financial rights and face the pandemic conditions of the new Corona, stressing that she will not hesitate to take more severe measures towards companies that refrain from paying their workers' salaries.
Minister Al-Aqil thanked the Ministry of Interior for the continuous support of the efforts of the General Authority for Manpower and Inspection Teams in the shelters and isolated areas.
