A housemaid stood in front of the Dubai Court of First Instance on charges of stealing jewelry and money worth 182,000 dirhams from her Emirati sponsor.

The 36-year-old Filipino maid allegedly stole 82,000 dirhams in cash from the 63-year-old sponsor.

The case was reported in September of this year at Lahbab Police Station and the maid was arrested.

The complainant, who is a housewife, said that she began monitoring two maids working in her home after she noticed some sums being lost.

"I kept 4000 dirhams, which I mark, in my bag in the locker. When I lost it, I confronted the maids in front of my daughter. At first, they denied having anything to do with her. However, after about half an hour, one of them - the defendant - admitted that she took it." Money. She brought me 8000 dirhams and admitted that she was stealing my money. She said she stole a total of 82 thousand dirhams. "

When the employer inspected her wardrobe, she found her jewelry was missing. I couldn't find two gold necklaces, four gold bracelets, and two more pieces. It was worth 100,000 dirhams. "

The maid reportedly admitted to her sponsor that she had stolen the jewelry and shipped it to her home country.

During police questioning and the Public Prosecution investigation, the maid allegedly said that she would steal between 500 and 1,000 dirhams when the employer went out.

"She used to go to her sponsor's bedroom and steal every day when her employer was away. Sometimes it happened more than once a day. Investigators said she had stolen around 82,000 dirhams in cash and sent sums back home."

The money transfer receipts were found with the defendant.

Sentencing will be pronounced on November 9th.
