The Cabinet instructed the Audit Bureau to review and study direct expenses and contracts to face the Corona crisis and to audit the integrity of its procedures, calling at the same time for citizens to provide any information or documents indicating the occurrence of corruption crimes, instead of challenging and questioning the procedures, and directed legal action against Publishers statements or information that harm the reputation of officials and offend them without support.
The Council held its extraordinary meeting chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, the day before yesterday.
After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh stated the following:
1 - The Council heard an explanation provided by the Minister of Health, the head of the team assigned to follow up on the spread of the Corona virus, Sheikh Dr. Basil Al-Sabah, regarding the latest developments in the general health situation in the State of Kuwait, where it was observed that the number of infections of citizens and residents through contact has increased, reflecting a lack of adherence to health instructions and guidelines, Especially the physical distance, but the health situation is still under control and the situation is being dealt with, as the number of injuries is expected to decrease after the implementation of the comprehensive curfew in the country.
The Council stressed the need for citizens and residents to adhere to the comprehensive ban controls and health authorities' instructions in this regard.
2 - Sheikh Dr. Basil Al-Sabah presented what was recently circulated on some social networking sites, and what was broadcast on one of the TV programs about the government's contracts to purchase protective gear (masks - clothes) from the Corona virus, by direct order and at exaggerated prices, and by stabbing And the reference to corruption and profiteering for some of those responsible for these contracts.
The Minister of Health affirmed his full confidence in his brothers and sisters who work in the Ministry of Health, who assume their responsibilities with sincerity and integrity.
The Minister of Health briefed the Council on the Ministry's submission of a number of communications to the Attorney General, against those who offended the reputation of the Ministry of Health and its staff, and rejected attempts to question their allegiance and sincerity.
He explained the procedures that were followed in these contracts, and the justifications that caused the price increase for the purchases of some commodities and the needs that necessitated the precautionary health measures to provide them quickly, to complete the government agencies efforts to confront the spread of the virus, explaining that the Cabinet adopted a financial system that governs the conduct of financial procedures, and that all contracts Which was conducted after the presentation to the competent supervisory authorities (the Central Agency for Public Tenders - the Court of Accounting - Fatwa and Legislation - and the Financial Supervisory Authority) and the approval of each of them, according to its jurisdiction and that what was circulated about it is false news and all of them T correct and involve questioning aspects of receivables and prejudice to the reputation of working without evidence or proof.
