The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) announced that cultural visas will be granted to "1000" creative people and artists of various nationalities during the next stage, as part of the expansion plan to grant long-term cultural visas, the first of its kind in the world, approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in 2019, and its term will reach 10 years and can be renewed, to make Dubai a global center for culture and creativity, and a forum for talents from writers, thinkers, researchers and artists from around the world.
Dubai Culture stated that it had received 261 nomination requests for cultural visas from intellectuals and creative people belonging to 46 nationalities from around the world, and 120 applications, including the basic and optional requirements that were set up based on clear and transparent criteria, have already been issued most of those visas. And the rest of the group is being released.
On this occasion, the Director General of Dubai Culture, Hala Badri, said: “Dubai is the home of creativity and innovators. The decision to grant intellectuals, creators and talents, a cultural visa, confirms the emirate’s global position as a center of culture, an incubator for creativity, a forum for talent, and a first destination. For the distinct cultural energies, as the decision has also contributed to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates in the global cultural scene. Attracting writers, artists and creators, and establishing Dubai as an incubator for the most important Arab and international talents and creativity, is part of the emirate’s main endeavor to stimulate the cultural economy, develop creative industries, and attract Talents and encouraging them to settle in them by empowering them and giving them the opportunity to prosper and engage in the development process in the country, in line with the goals and axes of the Dubai Culture Strategy 2020-2025.
