Five new traffic radars have been placed on the road from Shees in Sharjah to Khor Fakkan.

Monitoring the speed of vehicles, the system went into operation on 2 November.

Sharjah Police said that the radars were being installed because many motorists recently reported speeding accidents on this particular road to Khor Fakkan.

Lt. Col. Muhammad Ali Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said that the system will be able to detect fast vehicles on both sides of the highway. The radars will also be able to capture trucks and other vehicles that are not permitted to use the road.

Colonel Al Naqbi said that a speed limit is being applied on the Sheikh-Khorfakkan road, 80 kilometers per hour and 100 kilometers per hour.
