The Ministry of Humanity and Emiratisation issued an important statement calling on all private sector establishments not to terminate the services of its employees if it was found that they were infected with the new corona virus (Covid 19).
The Ministry of Humanity stated that the injured employee is entitled to a sick leave in the event of infection with the virus and the sick leave is for a period of 90 consecutive or intermittent days for each year of his work in the facility after spending three months of continuous service.
According to the law, the full wage is calculated for the first 15 days of leave, and half the wage for the next 30 days, and the 45 days that follow will be without pay.
And she warned against not implementing the decision and taking legal measures against any facility that did not comply with the instructions and terminates the service of any employee infected with the virus.
She also stressed the need for private sector enterprises to bear full responsibility and abide by the law and to consider the injured employee as a sick condition that requires sick leave. The law also stipulates that the state provides full and free health care to injured citizens and residents.
The ministry also called on the private sector to commit to paying workers wages on time.
