Driver killed in a water tanker in Ras al-Khaimah while the tanker was watering plants on the side of the road.
A 20-year-old Emirati man died immediately after crashing into a water tanker in the Athan area of Ras Al Khaimah.
Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Sam Al-Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that they were alerted about the collision on Wednesday at 8:30 in the morning.
Traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics, and rescue teams rushed to the scene, but found the driver was dead.
"The preliminary legislation for the collision showed that the Emirati victim was driving his car on the shoulder of the road when he was surprised by a water tanker parked on the left side of the road to irrigate the plants on the side of the road," the brigadier said.
He added that the driver tried to avoid hitting the tanker, but to no avail. "The victim could not do it and died immediately due to the impact of the collision," he added.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the morgue of Saqr Hospital.
Brigadier General Al Naqbi urged all drivers to pay attention on the road, observe speed limits, and fully comply with traffic rules and regulations.
