Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 777 said a fire caught fire while loading goods at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai on Wednesday, adding that the fire was contained and no crew or land was injured.

 

The cause of the accident is under investigation, Ethiopian Airlines said in a Facebook post, adding that the plane was in regular service from Shanghai to Sao Paulo - Santiago.

Pictures and videos circulating on Chinese social media showed thick smoke pouring from an Ethiopian plane, and a large portion of the upper fuselage appeared burned.

After the fire broke out, flight data flying to Shanghai Pudong International Airport has been diverted to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, the flight data source said.
