Women can face imprisonment for a period of no less than six months or a fine of no less than 150,000 dirhams, or both.
Two women were arrested for taking a video clip of a policeman on duty, and posting it on social media.
The video showed the police on duty interrogating a man for assaulting and arresting him, even as he tried to resist him.
It is illegal to take a video of someone without their consent and post it on social media, according to cybercrime laws.
Brigadier General Jamal Salem Al-Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations at Dubai Police, indicated that the two women violated the law by violating the privacy of the police officer while he was performing his work. He added that the authorities have launched legal procedures against the couple.
According to Article 21 of the law, women can face imprisonment for a period of no less than six months or a fine of no less than 150,000 dirhams, or both punishments.
Al-Jalaf urged all individuals to respect the privacy of others by not sharing or posting their videos or pictures on social media, as well as avoiding taking pictures or recording videos of the police while they are carrying out an operation.
