A speeding car driven by a Saudi citizen collided with the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Friday evening.

Videos posted on social media show the car plowing down plastic barriers in the outer courtyard of the mosque, before driving straight to one of the large exterior doors.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, this accident is caused by a car drifting and traveling at high speed on a road surrounding the southern square of the Grand Mosque.

"Thank God, no one was injured," Saba added, in the accident, which reportedly occurred at 10.25 pm Saudi time (11.25 pm in the United Arab Emirates).

The Makkah Province account on Twitter added that the driver was arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
