The UAE authorities announced tougher penalties for violations of safety measures related to the emerging corona virus (Covid 19), with the number of infections increasing on Monday.

During a briefing by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Salem Al-Zaabi, Acting Deputy Prosecutor for Emergency and Disaster at the Federal Public Prosecution:

"Repeated offenders will be punished with a maximum of six months in prison and / or a fine of no less than 100 thousand dirhams and indicated that violation of the rules of home quarantine or quarantine restrictions in official health facilities (for suspected and confirmed Covid-19 cases) will pay a fine of 50,000 dirhams ".

The prosecutor said: "Repeated violators will be referred to the Federal Prosecutor for Emergency and Disasters, which will be tried, as violators will be named and stored, and their photos will be published in the media."

The Acting Attorney General indicated that anyone who publishes or discloses information related to Corona patients must pay a fine of 20,000 dirhams.

A fine of 30,000 dirhams will also be imposed for organizing private lessons, even if they are free - and 20,000 dirhams for the person who gives their place for such lessons.

Al-Zaabi said: "Anyone who organizes a gathering will be fined 10,000 dirhams, while anyone who participates in it will pay a fine of 5,000 dirhams."

He added that a fine of 5,000 dirhams will be imposed for his refusal to take the Corona test and a fine of 3000 dirhams will be imposed for breaking the movement restrictions during the national purification campaign from 8 pm until 6 am for non-urgent reasons such as purchasing essentials, including food, medicine or for medical emergencies.

For individuals, families and communities


Hosting gatherings and inviting people: 10,000 dirhams
Attending a gathering as a guest: 5000 dirhams
- There are more than three passengers in the car: 3000 dirhams
Violation of restrictions during sterilization period: 3,000 dirhams
Private teachers violate the rules: 30,000 dirhams (and 20,000 dirhams for those who host the teacher)
Failure to maintain social distance at work or in other places such as shops and restaurants: 3000 dirhams per person, 5,000 dirhams for institutions

- Do not wear masks at work, offices: 5000 dirhams for the company, 500 dirhams for an employee
Exceeded the 30% limit for the workforce in the office: 3000 dirhams

Corona :


Non-compliance with the rules of home quarantine: 50,000 dirhams
- Do not download the smart app to track and fail to carry smartphones (for those who have been confirmed with Covid): 10,000 dirhams
Tampering with the tracker or app installed by the authorities: 20,000 dirhams
Refusal to take Coved test: 5000 dirhams
Refusal to repeat the test after two weeks: 1000 dirhams

For companies :


Opening educational facilities, clubs, gyms, cinemas, parks and swimming pools, or receiving guests: 50,000 dirhams
Operating entities without a thermal camera and non-compliance with government-imposed measures: 20,000 dirhams
