Private airlines decide to resume flights domestically and internationally as of May 16, 2020 after a long hiatus due to the Corona pandemic
Mint newspaper revealed that both SpiceJet and Goir Airlines began receiving departure reservations from May 16th, while Indigo and Vistara will receive reservations from May 1. Meanwhile, state-owned Air India has not yet restarted flight reservations.
The move to start bookings taken by companies comes exactly a week after they received a hint from India's Ministry of Civil Aviation to start making reservations, despite the fact that restrictions on the movement of people in the country were still in effect, which were imposed to prevent people from spreading Corona Covid 19.
The Mint newspaper said, while private airlines restarted reservations for only a few days and then restarted them, it was the Indian National Airlines' move on April 18 to join its ranks that bothered the authorities. Which forced to inform all airlines of the need to stop reservations.
It is not clear whether the airlines obtained the ministry's approval to resume reservations.
