National Indian Airlines and its affiliate Air India Express on Friday announced a travel update for passengers bound for Sharjah International Airport.

Starting today, residents of the emirate of Abu Dhabi need a green signal from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship before traveling to Sharjah.

"With immediate effect, travelers with residency visas from Al Ain and Abu Dhabi need to obtain approval from the authority before arriving in Sharjah," Air India said in its latest circular.

Separately, the airline announced that it is opening bookings for the Vande Bharat Mission repatriation flights to India for the months of November and December.

Meanwhile, Air Arabia, the national airline of the Emirate of Sharjah, said in its travel advisory: “Passengers with residency visas issued by Abu Dhabi or Al Ain should visit the website http://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae/ to check their entry status. .

Residents of the other Emirates are not required to arrange pre-approval. "
