Dubai police said two people were killed and 12 wounded in a traffic accident on Sheikh Zayed Road earlier on Sunday.
The accident occurred when a 14-seat minibus veered off the road and crashed into a cement barrier on the right side, before the fire broke out.
According to Brigadier Saif Mahir Al Mazrouei, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, the command and control room of the General Operations Department received an alert about the accident at 8:30 am.
He said, "The minibus went out of the way and crashed into a cement barrier on Sheikh Zayed Road at Al Manara Bridge towards Jebel Ali, before it caught fire."
Brig. Al-Mazrouei added that a team of experts was dispatched immediately to secure the accident site. He added, "The traffic police patrols rushed to the scene of the accident and facilitated the transfer of the injured to Rashid Hospital for treatment."
Sedan collides with a truck
Another incident occurred when Brigadier Al Mazroui said, when a sedan hit a truck.
He said: "At 10.50 am, we received a report of a car accident stuck in his car after he collided with a truck on the Al Khawaneej Road."
Brig. Al-Mazrouei added that we immediately coordinated with the rescue team and took the injured driver to Rashid Hospital for treatment.
