A man was charged in Dubai Court of First Instance after he allegedly secretly photographed three women and others in their apartment with his mobile phone.

The court heard how the 27-year-old, a Filipino waiter, had hidden his phone by placing the camera around the apartment, including in the bathroom, to take indecent pictures of unaware women.

He is accused of violating the decency of women and using his phone to infringe on the privacy of others.

The case goes back to August 26 and was registered at Al Muraqqabat Police Station. The accused is still in detention, while the prosecution has requested that a severe punishment be imposed on him.

A Filipina restaurant worker said she stayed in an apartment with other women and men - including two of the complainants. "There are seven rooms in the apartment, and every room is shared and divided."

I woke up around 5 in the morning. I was getting dressed to go to work when I saw a cell phone on the floor. I picked it up and the camera was on to my surprise. Then the accused appeared and tried to grab him from my hand. "

She called the police after videos were found in the phone gallery showing some of her flatmates in the shower. "I changed my clothes while the door was partially open. I thought everyone was still asleep at that early hour."

She told the investigator that the defendant had photographed her only wearing a towel and while changing her clothes. The woman said that she could not find this video as the accused immediately deleted it when the phone was taken from her.

A Filipino waitress said she learned of the secret recordings at about 6.30 am that day when she heard her flatmate screaming.

Five videos were found showing women bathing in the defendant's hacked phone and the trial was postponed to October 8th.
